The state's largest zoo, the 95-acre Dallas Zoo holds more than 1,800 animals representing hundreds of species. Attractions include an endangered tiger habitat, a simulated Australian Outback with kangaroos and wallabies, and a bird & reptile building. Marked by a giant giraffe sculpture at the entrance, the zoo lies three miles south of downtown, next to Thomas Hill Park.
