Excellent, fresh Thai food.

This East Dallas popular spot is one of the best Thai restaurants in Dallas. Its always family friendly and the prices can't be beat! I have not had better corn patties anywhere and that includes some very upscale Thai restaurants around the country. Bangkok's Garlic and white pepper chicken is also a favorite!

Scrumptous Thai Food in Lakewood with Quaint Ambience

What a delicious meal! Tonight was my first visit and I'll be back here often I'm certain. I tried the Chicken Satay as appetizer and it was perfect. Then for my entree I tried something I've never had per suggestion from the staff and I'm glad I did - I think it was called Pad-Lah-Nah (I selected it be served with chicken) - with flat noodles and vegetables like green and red peppers, served with rice. Everything was very fresh and done just right. You might miss this great restaurant by the outside but trust me this Thai restaurant is worth many visits. The pricing can't be beat either - my wonderful meal would've been much higher at other local Thai restaurants for sure.

Horrible!!!

My husband and I had dinner here and it was terrible! We both ordered the spicy chicken soup and after 20 min. it finally arrived. The soup was not spicy at all and lacking in flavor. For my husbands entree he ordered the drunken basil flat noodles, which had NO noodles! It consisted of sauteed onions, bell peppers, and sprouts with DRIED basil. For my entree, I ordered chicken pad thai. There was absolutely no flavor and it was extreemly oily and disgusting. I think after this trip we will NEVER go back and tell our friends to do the same.

Surprisingly good Lakewood thai restaurant

I don't consider myself a Thai food connoisseur; but I like a good, Thai green curry dish every couple of weeks. Also, since moving to the M-Streets/Lakewood neighborhood I've been disappointed by the lack of casual, affordable Asian food options that also have food worth paying for. The Bangkok Inn was just what I was looking for. It's a tiny neighborhood place which is difficult to find unless you're purposefully looking for it. The decor is nothing fancy. The interior has the feel of an inexpensive, family restaurant in England or Ireland (which is to say that it feels 'homey' and a bit old-fashioned). Importantly, the Bangkok Inn is BYOB. There is a liquor store just a block away and the Wine Therapist is located across the street in case you forget to bring some libations from home. We found the food to be at par with more expensive Thai restaurants that we've been to elsewhere in Dallas (Chow Thai, Royal Thai, Samui Thai, Mango, etc.). Our egg rolls were average (but I can't say that I've ever head an ethereal egg roll). My wife had hot and sour soup which was met expectations. For entrees, I had green curry with chicken and my wife had dumplings. The green curry was as good as any that I've had in Dallas, and my wife said that the dumplings were the best that she's had outside of the Chinatown-area in Richardson. What made the food taste even better was the price. I don't recall seeing a single item on the menu for over $10. The Bangkok Inn will be a regular in our neighborhood collection of restaurants, both for in-restaurant eating and take-out. It's far from a 5-star dining experience with ground-breaking cuisine, but it is awfully hard to beat if you're looking for basic Thai food at an affordable price.
